Erva ientu - Wildflower

                                                      to my grandparents

Erva ientu [dialect from Salento]:

Parietaria officinalis, from the Latin word paries (a wall), is a perennial plant commonly found growing from nooks and crannies in dry walls hence the popular English name. It will frequently grow in stony rubbish.

Very hard to eradicate.

This short piece aims to draw a parallel between this kind of "weed" and people who, despite facing difficulties in life, still find the strength not only to endure but also to thrive—even in a hostile environment. The choreographer dedicated this work to her grandparents who, like many of their generation, found themselves living through decades of drastic change, often feeling marginalized or left behind by the relentless advance of progress. Yet these were people who never stopped passing on their values of goodness, simplicity, and love to the younger generations, helping us feel a deep sense of rootedness that has given meaning and direction to our choices for the future.
