THE WORLD BIT ME

During this research process the artists focused on exploring parallels between the old folkloristic music and dance from Salento (south-east of Italy) and some of the altered psychological and spiritual states affecting people nowadays in a country that is not the one where they were born, with focus on immigrants coming from the south of the world migrated to middle and north Europe.

During the research process, the artist found performative solutions that translate in the body the feelings and states mentioned above, with the help of codes coming from contemporary dance and theater, in connection with music and dance coming from the tradition of Salento.

Through visceral movements and symbolic imagery, The world bit me invites us to reconsider how dance, rituals and community can address the inner wounds of contemporary life.
